MHEA ACTIVITIES
Among the many advantages of membership in the Memphis-area Home Education Association are the many opportunities to participate in MHEA sponsored activities throughout the year.
These activities are designed to provide school level competition for MHEA Members. Most activities are organized by member support groups and are sponsored by area organizations and businesses and allow for advancement to the local, state, and national competitions.
These events include (in date order):
MHEA Art Contest - held on August 14, 2008. Winners advance to the Mid-South Fair Art Competition.
MHEA Fall Carnival - Muscular Dystrophy Fundraiser organized by the MHEA Honor Society and is held on October 10, 2008, 10:00am-2:00pm at Forest Hill Baptist Church, 3645 Forest Hill-Irene Road.
MHEA College and Career Fair - at Forest Hill Baptist Church,
3645 Forest Hill-Irene Road on October 13, 2008, 5:00-8:00pm.
MHEA Geography Bee - held in November-December , is sponsored by the National Geographic Society and allows for advancement to state and national competitions.
MHEA Spelling Bee - held in November/December is sponsored by The Commercial Appeal & Scripps-Howard and allows for advancement to the county, state and national competitions.
MHEA Science Fair - held in January/February allows advancement to the Memphis/Shelby County Science Fair and the Shelby County Science and Engineering Fair.
MHEA Math League Contest - held in March-April - coordinator position open.
THEA Rally Day - held Tuesday, March 24, 2009.
MHEA Field Day - organized by the MHEA Honor Society and is held on April 17, 2009 at the Buckhead Creek Facility.
MHEA Kindergarten Graduation - held in late May.
MHEA Spring Banquet - held on Thursday, May 7, 2009.
MHEA Senior Graduation - held on Saturday, May 9, 2009.
MHEA Conference & Curriculum Fair - held in May/June.
MHEA Used Book Sale - held in May/June and offers an opportunity to buy & sell used books & curriculum.
